In 1941, Carlo Sigurta, an industrialist and pharmacist, bought a neglected park from the Maffei family. The same one that was laid out here already in 1617, but fell into complete disrepair.

As we have a garden of the Garda House, we know how slowly Wisterias wrap up the walls, and how much love you need to invest in each dried rose to make it come back to life. The park of 60 hectares was being landscaped for forty years and only in 1978 it was finally opened for the public.

We came here forty years later, in 2018. These figures surprise me, a bustler, making my eyes round. The same eyes that admire and cannot stop looking at such beauty.

A roses lane, twisted forest mazes, lakes covered with Lotus flowers, and what is the most important — space, tranquility and aesthetics, this is what I found here. Fawns are grazing in the shadow of 400-year-old oaks, and a donkey rejoices himself eating clover from a hand.

It is not a zoo, there are few animals in the park, but each of them gets special attention.

There are hundreds of grassplots, lawns and flowerbeds, and they are all so elegant and not overloaded, that three hours in the park were the best rest for me. I thought parks are boring, but it turned out that parks are a slow-paced aesthetic pleasure.
